We would like to inform our Customers about an important regulatory change that will affect the entire stainless steel fasteners and fixings supply chain from January 01st, 2026.
As established by the European CBAM Regulation (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism), the European Union has introduced a carbon emissions taxation mechanism for products imported from non-EU Countries.
This regulation aims to level the environmental cost burden between European manufacturers and non-EU producers by requiring the purchase of carbon certificates for each ton of imported goods.
What is going to change for your supplies
While the period 2023–2025 was dedicated exclusively to monitoring, from January 01st, 2026 CBAM will become a mandatory and effective financial obligation.
The amount of this so-called “carbon tax” will depend on two variable factors:
-
The emissions intensity (tCO₂/t) of the manufacturing site and of the raw material (steel).
-
The price of EU ETS certificates, quoted weekly on the energy market.
Our commitment
Fully aware of the economic impact of this rule, our company has taken action in advance to:
-
Select certified suppliers with the lowest carbon emissions currently available on the global market (EAF technology and low-impact processes).
-
Initiate audits at production sites to ensure the accuracy of reported data and to minimise the application of the punitive EU default values.
-
Guarantee continuity of supply through our status as an Authorised CBAM Declarant.
Pricelist adjustments
The introduction of CBAM will inevitably lead to a change of selling prices.
We are sure you will understand that this adjustment is due to mandatory EU legal obligations, entirely beyond our control.
Best regards
